Melissa Martinez & special guest teachers
Mel is the owner and creator of the school and owns Temple Yoga Reno, a yoga studio on California Ave. She absolutely loves the ocean and gets to any coast whenever she can. Being a mother to her beloved son Jai is the highlight of her life. She's a 15 year veteran yoga instructor in Reno/Tahoe and teaches movement in a way that inspires with a little humor and dedication to the breath. She leads with the breath and adapts the postures in movement with a devotional bhav or feeling.
You can expect to sweat in her classes by going deep into your bones and accessing the strength, alignment, and balance that your body naturally craves.
Melissa is offering retreats locally and internationally. We are locking in the perfect dates and spaces to do healing yoga retreats. The last retreat in Nicaragua was beautiful and way fun. Low key and stress free at an affordable fee is how the school extends the courses to the community.

Dearest readers and friends,
Feeling compelled and driven to give back what yoga has given to me, I aligned with yoga. I showed up on my mat and created a regular practice for nine years before I took my first yoga training. I took my first training with Bikram in 2007 (500+ hours) and taught the Bikram Yoga series for three years. My journey is long and extensive when it comes to courses and different practices.
I attended a 300-hour Bhakti Flow teacher training that I loved dearly and at the time it was like a giant ripple from SF to Reno. During this time, I found Janet Stone Yoga and was inspired to go on and study another 1,000+ hours all over the world, India, Mexico, a Zen monastery, Greece, and every chance I can, I sit with my teachers. I've had a lot of triumph in my life and to deeply uncover any shadows and confusion, I needed to show up. The Janet Stone Yoga community was the most healing support to that intention.
Having had so much variety in the teacher training experience and longing for a deeper connection with my students, we created this school, We Are One RYTT. The school has brought new life into our community. From the school came many of the teachers you practice with in our small town today.
My intention is pure. When I show up, I’m there to serve people in any way that I can. It must be part of my dharma to share the teachings as it seems to be an innate way of navigation. Insert here that we are all working on less harm. My relationships in life show me where I’m contracted and yoga helps me to expand again and again. Teaching yoga won’t make us enlightened beings. What I've learned is that we're already enlightened and we just have to realize it. This is Self-realization. It’s the moment-to-moment, the push and pull, the give and take, the day-to-day. All of my arrows point one way and it’s been that way from the very first yoga class that I took.
