About Melissa Martinez, E-RYT-500, E-YACP, owner Temple Yoga Reno & We Are One RYTT
Feeling compelled and driven to give back what yoga has given to me, I aligned with yoga. I showed up on my mat and created a regular practice for nine years before I took my first yoga training. I took my first training with Bikram in 2007 (500+ hours) and taught the Bikram Yoga series for three years. My journey is long and extensive when it comes to courses and different practices.
2010 300-hour Bhakti Flow teacher training- I loved this course and at the time it was like a giant ripple from San Francisco to Reno. 2010 I found Janet Stone Yoga and was inspired to go on and study another 1,000+ hours all over the world, India, Mexico, a Zen monastery, Greece, and every chance possible I'll sit with Janet and the sangha. I've had a lot of triumph in my life and to deeply uncover any shadows and confusion, I needed to show up. The Janet Stone Yoga community was the most healing support to that intention.
Having had so much variety in the teacher training experience and longing for a deeper connection with my students that I'm blessed to serve, the school We Are One RYTT was born. The yoga school has brought new life into our community. From the school came many of the teachers you practice with in our small town today.
When I show up, I’m there to serve people in any way that I can. Part of the dharma to share the teachings seems to be an innate way of navigation that are all working on- less harm. The relationships in life show me where I’m contracted and yoga helps me to expand. Teaching yoga won’t make us enlightened beings.
What I've learned is that we're already enlightened and we just have to realize it. This is Self-realization. It’s the moment-to-moment, the push and pull, the give and take, the day-to-day.
